Frequently Asked Questions
The Work
-
Yes, each Clay Matter piece is one of a kind.
Every object is made and finished by hand. Even when I revisit a form or surface, differences in material, glaze application, and firing mean no two pieces will be exactly alike.
-
Yes. For one-of-a-kind work, the photographs in the listing show the individual piece available for purchase.
Please note that color may appear slightly different depending on lighting, screen calibration, and device settings.
-
Variation is an inherent part of handmade ceramics and of the firing process.
You may see subtle movement in the form, variation in glaze color or texture, speckling, firing marks, pinholes, or other evidence of how the piece was made. These qualities are part of the individual character of the work and are not considered defects unless otherwise indicated in the listing.
Use & Care
-
Please refer to the individual product description.
A piece should only be used with food when its listing specifically identifies it as food-safe. Decorative pieces and pieces with unglazed interiors, sculptural, or specialty surfaces may not be suitable for food use.
-
Please refer to the individual product description.
A vessel should only be assumed to hold water when its listing specifically identifies it as watertight or suitable for fresh flowers. Decorative vessels not identified as watertight are best used with dried arrangements or displayed as objects.
For additional protection, I recommend placing water-holding vessels on a coaster or protected surface.
-
Hand washing is recommended for all Clay Matter pieces.
Use mild soap and a soft cloth or sponge, and avoid abrasive cleaners, sudden temperature changes, direct flame, stovetops, and ovens.
Do not place a piece in the dishwasher or microwave unless its individual listing specifically states that it is suitable for that use.
Ordering & Shipping
-
Ready-to-ship orders are generally prepared within 5–7 business days, excluding weekends and holidays.
You will receive an email with tracking information once your order has shipped. Carrier transit time begins after the order has been prepared and is separate from processing time.
-
Shipping is calculated at checkout based on the size and weight of your order, the delivery destination, and the available carrier service.
Because ceramics require substantial protective packaging, the final package may be considerably larger and heavier than the object itself.
-
No. Clay Matter currently ships within the contiguous United States.
International shipping is not currently available.
Returns & Support
-
Because the work is one of a kind and fragile, all sales are final.
Please review all photographs, dimensions, materials, and care information carefully before purchasing. Questions about a piece are welcome before purchase.
If your order arrives damaged or you receive an incorrect item, please contact me within 48 hours of delivery.
